green growth

we went on an outing to our most favourite place today. it was bittersweet because we were there to scatter the ashes of our beloved cat. in the end we are sure that she'll be happy with her final resting place. beneath three western red cedars and very close to a stream, with many ferns about and so, so verdant. i'd be happy there. we left her some offerings of nutritional yeast and cantaloupe, her two most loved foods! oliver was very curious of the big fat raindrops on his face then true to his nature, fell asleep. poor dear. one day he'll make it to lighthouse park fully awake and able to ramble down the trails, i can't wait.

seeing

we took oliver to see this show last night. we think he enjoyed it very much. the early photographs were difficult for him to focus on. but the mid-century walker evans, weegee etc. were the perfect high-contrast that really gives his beautiful baby eyes a good workout. it was funny to see him interact with a ken lum photograph. all that text and colours gave him sometime to coo about. i loved seeing some of my past teachers works, marian penner bancroft and sandra semchuk, lovely stuff. fabulous show.
