little nests...opening party

i needed a couple of days to recover before i posted about it. i had such a nice time. there was an extraordinary turnout which surprised me and the curator. i thought with such a nice summer night and the soccer no one would show. things started with an improv musical performance by a local guy, carlos joe costa. he was great, i really liked how he connected and interacted with the audience. another amazing thing that there were lots of children there. when we were giving our artist talks they were asking the most thoughtful questions.
speaking of the talk. when it was my turn to speak about my work all i could think about where was oliver. my hub had taken him outside and was circling the building with him. he's turning into an outside toddler now, definately not an inside boy.
afterwards it was mingling time and i was surprised by my cousin who i hadn't seen in 15-20 years!!! that was amazing.

it was great fun, the drawings will be up until July 31st at the Britannia Gallery here in Vancouver. i will post some more close-up shots in a few days. i have started to plan my next group of drawings which i will probably begin in august. i will post sneak peeks for those of you who are interested.

i like how the drawings glowed dangling in the lights. it made my think that next time maybe i should draw on a transparent medium like vellum.

i like this shot my husband took of my backside, also my friend carie's standing beside me. very flattering. thanks alot!what was he thinking?

i like this shot of some guy reading a newspaper. we are in a library after all.

i am trying to convince oliver that he doesn't need any more apricots.

i think the owl is spoken for. it's going to be hard saying goodbye.

can you believe the caterer made these birds nests just for me? unbelievable!
