what can i say,

this is a really hard post to write. our cat bill, who we have had living with us for nine years had to be put down last week. the vet couldn't really tell us what had happened. all he knew was that his injuries and wounds were severe. i reckon he got into a fight with a racoon. there are many in this neighbourhood. i'm trying really hard to remember the good times and not think of the last day or the fact that oliver keeps looking around the house for the "cat pee." this was his name for bill. i'm also trying to not be sad for the little girl that is in this complex who keeps asking for bill, i don't think she understands that bill is gone. i was trying to gently break the news to her. i catch myself looking around for him. he really was a lovely, sweet, and ornery cat.
sorry to bring everyone down, i'll change the direction a little,... my birthday is monday. i'm 35. i remember when 35 was the end... remember when it seemed soooo old?! my hub gave me a present early. it's a beautiful etching by a local printmaker that i'm crazy over. i'll post it as soon as i can. i'm going away to stay with my mum for the week. i get to catch up with two good highschool chums who are mums themselves. i can't wait. see you when i get back. still no camera, the photo above is a fav from my archives.

hey cindy... i'm so sorry to hear about your loss... being a pet owner [currently 2 dogs, 3 kitties] i can really relate.... there are no adequate words to describe that loss.....
and on another note - happy big birthday!!!
[and please post your piles if/when you ever get a camera again!]
You can see an image of the print here:

That's from the BIMPE site (Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition). I liked it a lot too, so it was sort of a gift for both of us, but Cindy's the real collector.
I explained the situation to the little girl yesterday and her big sister helped her understand. She mentioned that she once saw bill chasing a raccoon, but that may just be mixed up with some of the bill stories we told her. If it's true, maybe he ran into one that wasn't part of his posse. Poor guy. He was a tough one, even in his old age. I had to hold him back from facing down a neighbor's dog when we first moved in. I wouldn't doubt that years of indoor life made it so that he still had the huevos of a cock-of-the-walk tom, but the body of an wizened old feline.
so sorry to hear about bill...
lovely bday present. enjoy 35. i am at the end of it and call tell you it has been a very good year!!
Sorry to hear about Bill. It's such a joy to share our life's with these little feline friends that it always comes as a shock when they have to leave.
Hi Cindy,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Bill... he looks like such a handsome fellow in that photo. It is such a sad, lonely feeling to lose a beloved furry friend... expecting to see or hear them... breaks your heart.
take care, grache
(Oh, and happy 35th b'day too!)
