february artist of the month: francesca woodman

she is hands down my favourite photographer. some of her photos are ethereal, fragile, and so personal. yet some are tough and have such roughness to them. her mostly self-portraits were taken in surroundings such as derelict buildings in providence, rhode island, and the sea-side during the 1970's. she died very young, at just 21 by taking her own life. these are the pictures you will never be able to get out of your head. i highly recommend this book although, my gosh, don't recommend that price!! there is also a fantastic gallery of her works online here

it's nice to be finished with a huge amount of drawings. i can now move on and do the next series that has been percolating in my head. my portfolio is now updated, and i hope to add even more to it in the coming weeks.
