little nests

well here's the invite, finally! i have had a hard time getting near the computer these days as the weather is too damn gorgeous.

the opening night party is open to everyone so if you are in town and would like to come by please do.

i hope to post again before tuesday. my archival print is ready and once i photograph it all packaged up i will release it next week. i'm very excited by the quality and the lovely rag paper it's printed on.

some things i'm listening to when i get the chance.

busy, busy

we have been to the beach and to water parks more in the last week more than i have ever been. it's been lots of fun. i'm not sure this heat is ever going to let up.
i also found time to take oliver to a weegee photo exhibit. a small print, printmaking exhibit, and some art exhibits that were part of the world urban forum that has been going on here in vancouver. i think he likes the water parks the best. for myself, the printmaking exhibit. over 300 exhibitors!

i have just a few days left before i install my show. i am trying to plan how it will be installed. this is the hard part. i will try and scan my invite, incase there are local people reading this that would like to come. maybe i'll meet you there?

engaging

we had a really nice time this weekend. my cousin's engagement was a fun time especially for oliver. they had rented a small hall, and there were too many people still. i think oliver really liked the half-time show of three dancing bhangra girls. lots of good food including a chat station! yum.

i'm working on stuff related to my upcoming show this week so i will probably be away from the computer.
the top photo is my outfit from the weekend. then the poppies from my mum's neighbours yard. they were incrediable! then's oliver's first haircut. he did really well, the hairdresser was pleased. next the cutest sipper cup ever. it's a water bottle sized for kids that is neutral in that it doesn't retain any smells or leaches any nasty plastic into the drinks. the last is a deer that comes to my mum house every day to nibble on her shrubs. there are many deer in the area they live, my dad calls them nature's pruners.

colour week blue / red

today i've combined red and blue as i'm going away and won't be near my computer for a few days. the organic strawberries are our first of the season and they taste so good. tiny and scrumptcious!!! even better dipped in dark chocolate. my cousin is getting engaged this weekend! indian engagements are almost as elaborate as the weddings. should be colourful and lots of fun. i will be back next week.

i love this man.
so does my husband. ;)

colour week black / grey

i thought black and grey would be difficult this time of year with everything so green and all the flowers out. then i remembered my donkey shirt. i love this little donkey.

one of my favourite black and grey photos. couldn't have happened to a nicer, more compassionate person.

i am a punk rocker

well things have been a little off kilter in our house. sleep time keeps getting pushed later and later until i am too exhausted to stay up and work on any projects. tonight oliver actually went down to sleep at his regular 7 pm. lets hope he finds his rhythm again.

i am very close to getting archival prints made. i will post them here and on flickr when they are ready. i can't wait, the first one will be of my bird drawing the fox sparrow.

i am coming down the home stretch for the exhibition in july. i think i have just one or two drawings left to do. then i am going to send out the invitations. it should be a good time. there is going to be live music and lots of food and drink.
woo hoo!(sean- if your reading this, will you be back in canada around july 6th?)

next post i'm going to do 2 artist of the months, because i was too busy to do one in may. stay tuned, it'll be great i promise...
