what can i say,

this is a really hard post to write. our cat bill, who we have had living with us for nine years had to be put down last week. the vet couldn't really tell us what had happened. all he knew was that his injuries and wounds were severe. i reckon he got into a fight with a racoon. there are many in this neighbourhood. i'm trying really hard to remember the good times and not think of the last day or the fact that oliver keeps looking around the house for the "cat pee." this was his name for bill. i'm also trying to not be sad for the little girl that is in this complex who keeps asking for bill, i don't think she understands that bill is gone. i was trying to gently break the news to her. i catch myself looking around for him. he really was a lovely, sweet, and ornery cat.

sorry to bring everyone down, i'll change the direction a little,... my birthday is monday. i'm 35. i remember when 35 was the end... remember when it seemed soooo old?! my hub gave me a present early. it's a beautiful etching by a local printmaker that i'm crazy over. i'll post it as soon as i can. i'm going away to stay with my mum for the week. i get to catch up with two good highschool chums who are mums themselves. i can't wait. see you when i get back. still no camera, the photo above is a fav from my archives.

well, i'm alive

we survived our move, just barely. i really want to thank our friends for all their help. we literaly couldn't have done it without you. we are now comfortably ensconsed in our new abode. some things will take a little getting used to. no dishwasher, (the horror!!!) actually, i'm one of those freaks that enjoys doing dishes, it's a challenge with the little one who hates it when i have my back toward him though. i think i will get him a step-stool. he loves the sink and faucet. he's like a drunken fool when he can dunk things into water.

moving came with a few casualties though. my camera died. boo hiss. we can't decide whether or not to save for an slr. buy a cheap thing to tide us over, or get it fixed. i'm leaning for the get it fixed but i can't find anywhere that has a reasonable fee for estimates. if anyone has any suggestions, i would be very grateful. i feel like my arm has been cut off without any instaneous digital action.
this coming from a former diehard film slr user.

the photo above was the last photo on my memory card on the last day of our old apartment. our new place is great, as soon as i get the camera situation sorted i'll document a few areas. my studio is a mess, it'll be the last room to get straightened. oliver's room is out of commision as his balcony door had to be replaced. i'm slowly picking paint colours out. gray-brown for the kitchen, morning fog, a pale blue-grey for one bathroom, and i think an oyster colour for ollie's bedroom. that way all his robin's egg and turqouise blue things will pop against it.

when i get a chance
i'm listening to;
